5 The Eraser isn’t just for han­dling er­rors

The Eraser has some spe­cific set­tings of its own. A lower Soft­ness value leaves the paper tex­ture more vis­i­ble, while a higher value leaves erased parts cleaner. By de­fault, the Eraser com­pletely dries the erased area, but if you turn on ‘Keep wet’ then the tool cleans colours, the erased area re­tains its wet­ness and colour con­tin­ues to flow.

With the Pas­tel tool, us­ing lower Pres­sure val­ues will bring out the paper tex­ture. I typ­i­cally use val­ues be­tween 15 and 40. Choose dif­fer­ent paper to change the look of the Pas­tel tool. If you re­duce the val­ues of Pres­sure and Soft­ness, then the Eraser will lightly scratch the paint­ing The Eraser is not only for re­mov­ing mis­takes.
