Low res­o­lu­tion: pos­ing the model

Cre­at­ing a com­pli­cated pos­ing rig is a skill in its own right, so to sim­plify the process I use the Bones toolset in 3ds Max. This en­ables me to quickly cre­ate a pos­able skele­ton for mov­ing my crea­ture’s joints. How­ever, this doesn’t al­ways give the clean­est re­sult, so I take the posed mesh into ZBrush to quickly clean up any prob­lem­atic ge­om­e­try us­ing the Sculpt­ing toolset.
