Head unit specialist Zenec has announced its new flagship ‘universal’ multimedia deck with 6.2-inch touch screen and all the bells and whistles.

The company refers to its new Z-N626 head unit as a ‘Naviceiver’ which of course states, right there, the unit’s possession of navigation and radio receiver… oh but there’s a whole lot more too.

For starters, the navigation is via the latest customised NNG with iGO primo NextGen Navigation package for Australia & New Zealand (optional Hema 4WD maps). It features 3D landmarks, enhanced junction views, text-tospeech and much more.

Parrot Bluetooth allows pairing with up to three mobile phones with up to 1000 contacts each while two phones can be used simultaneously. Music streaming from appropriate devices is also catered for.

The Z-N626 features DAB+ radio (antenna sold separately) and AM/FM. Digital radio is becoming more prevalent in major cities around Australia and its sound quality and station choices set it apart from the traditional analogue bands. In fact the unit has twin tuners for both analogue and digital, with Zenec stating the multiple tuners work in unison to provide a better quality radio reception. An automatic update function creates new station lists based on the strongest signals when travelling between regions.

On the audio side of things we have a 192kHz DAC supporting 24-bit FLAC files via USB and, of course, there’s added support for just about every other format including physical media by way of CD and DVD. As is almost industry standard, there’s a four channel amplifier capable of 50 watts output. The USB MP3 playback ability (two USB ports) allows the use of Gracenote which scans music from your libraries to create playback lists with your favourite tracks. Audio fine-tuning can be achieved via on-board time alignment and an 11-band parametric equaliser while the unit features 3-volts outputs (4.2/5.1 outs), multizone and two video outputs. A reverse camera input allows automatic switch-on once reverse gear is selected and features a number of viewing/guidance options. The Z-N626 is also compatible with steering wheel control.

The new Z-N626 ‘Naviceiver’ is available via Zenec’s specialist dealer network.
