New­cas­tle to host NSW Open

NEW­CAS­TLE Golf Club has se­cured the host­ing rights of the NSW Open Golf Cham­pi­onship for 3 years from 2011 through to and in­clud­ing 2013.

Golf NSW CEO, Greg Mills and New­cas­tle Golf Club Cap­tain, Michael Mul­vaney, in the com­pany of two for­mer win­ners in Owen Beld­ham and Aaron Townsend, signed off on an agree­ment for the club to again be­come the host venue.

Beld­ham won the event as an ama­teur back in 1972, the last time New­cas­tle staged the event, while Townsend is a lo­cal Novo­cas­trian and a mem­ber at the New­cas­tle club. Townsend won the NSW Open in 2008.

The 2011 NSW Open will this year be held from the 17th to 20th of Novem­ber and in con­tin­u­ing the re­cent tra­di­tion, en­try to the course will be free of charge.
