Eastern’s ‘Masterchefs’ make finals...again
MELBOURNE’S Eastern Golf Club has every right to be proud of their culinary staff. The team, consisting of Tony Rush, Head Chef and Minh Nguyen, Sous Chef, has been selected for the second year running as one of only ten pairs in Victoria to reach the finals of the Chef ’s Table 2011 culinary competition.
Now in its third year, this culinary competition, ‘Chef ’s Table – awarding culinary innovation’ has been created by Clubs Victoria (ClubsVIC) to recognise and award the many talented, creative chefs and cooks within the not-forprofit, community clubs of Victoria. Chef ’s Table encourages club chefs to think way beyond ‘chicken parma’ and Sunday roasts.
“Our menu has provided myself and team with a great opportunity to push the boundaries and showcase some truly great food which will no doubt be matched with great service from our catering staff at the Club,’ Rush said.
In the Finals Event last month, teams were judged on the execution of a threecourse menu, including preparation of the dishes, taste, presentation and keeping within the given budget. Wine matching of the dishes was also a requirement of the competition. Inside Golf was on hand to witness (and taste!) the excellent dishes put forth by the Eastern team, and we were extremely impressed.
Winners of the overall competition will be announced at the ClubsVIC Chef ’s Table presentation and dinner in Melbourne on Monday 8th August.
