Troon Golf initiative to grow golf
TROON Golf – a golf course management, development and marketing company is helping to grow golf participation.
The company’s Australia, Asia and Pacific senior vice-president and managing director Ryan Walls recently announced its new “Play Troon” program.
Walls said the program was an exciting new program aimed directly at growing the game by providing golfers with a range of exciting participation-based concepts as well as directly addressing challenges facing the game and industry.
“We are trying to develop programs that directly combat the core issues we are facing in golf today,” he said.
“We want programs that make it easier to introduce new players to the game, tackle the issue of time and create opportunities to address the increasing cost of the game and importantly to make golf fun and less intimidating.”
He said the first “ Play Troon” concept was Troon Family Golf, which provides a forum for parents to introduce golf to their children.
Broadly speaking, every participating Troon facility in Australia will allow parents to bring their children to play for free from 3pm when the adult pays the Troon Family Golf rate – typically 20 per cent off the standard facility afternoon rate.
Children who are new to the game and aged 15 and under will be provided with complimentary rental sets.
“All facilities will also be enhancing introductory clinics for junior golfers which focus not only on learning the game but more importantly introducing the core values of the game that so many of us learned early on that help guide us in life,.” Walls said
And Troon Golf will simultaneously launch two more programs under the “Play Troon” banner.
The first, which addresses speed of play issues, is called Express Golf.
It offers express tee times to guarantee a faster speed of play. The second is Troon Days, which offers exclusive Troon rates on dedicated days of the week. Dedicated days may vary at each Troon course. www.playtroon.com.au
