Ipswich team secures event title twice
A TEAM of four ladies from Ipswich Golf Club has secured the top spot at McLeod Country Golf Club’s annual Holden Scramble Open Ladies event for the second year in a row.
Led by keen Ipswich golfers Judy Shelton and Cassandra Elsden, the team will now move one step closer to a possible start in the final of the Holden Scramble – Australia and New Zealand’s biggest amateur tournament.
Teams from McLeod Country Golf Club finished closely behind in second and third position.
McLeod Country Golf Club professional Richard Harris said he was impressed by the number of competitors in this year’s event.
“It’s such a popular competition and a very hard one to win. The team from Ipswich played a very solid game of golf followed closely behind by two teams from McLeod,” he said.
The winning team will now progress to the regional finals where they will battle it out for a spot in the national final which will be played at Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast in November.
