A Leprechaun’s got it

Recently the Gaels Social Golf had a day out at Twin Creeks. 24 players from the Irish Club in Kingswood, near Penrith, played in the day.

Some of the players wanted a quick practice putt before hitting off. One was Paddy Rogers, who took 3 balls onto the green.

A former heavyweight boxer from Ireland, Paddy hit his first putt a bit too firm on the slick putting green and it rolled off the green into a small garden bed. He made the adjustment on the next 2 putts which ended up closer to the hole.

His group was then called onto the 1st tee. His 3 partners on the tee, ready to hit off, looked around for Paddy. They finally spotted him in the garden bed. “I’ve lost me ball” Paddy cries out. One partner suggests “Did ya check in all da holes- Paddy?”

Another calls out “I tink I saw a Leprechaun take it and run awae.”

A great start to a game of golf, with laughs all around. But what we really want to know is: Has anyone in the history of golf ever lost a ball on the practice putting green? David Hildebrand, Handicapper for Gaels Social Golf Club
