Club pro breaks 100… in a way
TEACHING professional Ross Moodie has broken 100...for his students.
In the past 12 months, the Coolangatta Tweed Heads-based club pro has managed to reduce the handicaps of 15 of his students by a combined 113 shots.
Top of the pops was Peter Baldry who reduced his handicap from 36 to 17 – a reduction of 19 shots.
Next best was Nathan Baxter who dropped 14 shots from a 30 handicap to 16.
But Moodie is particularly proud of one of his star pupils, Rebecca Kay, who won the Queensland U12 Australian School Sports Golf Championship by 15 shots.
Kay has reduced her handicap from 14 to four this year.
Moodie started coaching her in February 2010 when she played off a 30 handicap.
“My coaching results for 2011 were extremely good, probably my career best,” said Moodie, who has been coaching kids at grassroots level for 30 years.
