The Eastern GC wins Club of the Year
MELBOURNE’S The Eastern Golf Club took top honours last month, being announced as ‘Club of the Year’ at the 2011 Clubs Victoria Achievement Awards. In front of an audience of over 450 members and sponsors at the Crown Palladium, General Manager Benjamin Telley accepted the award on stage with fellow staff on behalf of the Club.
Club of the Year is awarded for outstanding overall club operations including community support, member services, promotion of positive club culture and environment, staff service and professionalism and future initiatives/strategies for the Club.
Mr Telley said “It has been a challenging last five years for the Club and it is almost overwhelming to accept this award on behalf of the Club. I would like to recognise the hard work and commitment of the Board to securing the future of the Club and also the members and volunteers that make the Club what it is today.”
“Finally, I would like to record my sincere appreciation to the amazing team of staff that make the Club environment a pleasure to come to and work each and every day. There is a real sense of purpose about what we are doing together and why and this award is reflective of their commitment and contribution to the Club, they should all be very proud of this great achievement”.
It was not the only award received by the Club on the evening. The Eastern Golf Club Operations Manager, Peter Vlahandreas won ‘Employee of the Year’ for his ongoing commitment to customer service, attitude, enthusiasm and efficiency in his role and being a driving force in the marketing and social media activities of the Club. This marked back-to-back awards in this category for Eastern employees, with Event Coordinator Nicole Kerley the recipient in 2010.
The Club made it a triple title night, also winning the category of ‘Best Branding in Marketing’, reflective of the Club’s leading initiatives in local area marketing campaigns and social media network communications.
As the Club embarks on securing its future with plans to relocate to the Yarra Valley, these awards are recognition that the Club as a whole including the Board and staff are striving to constantly improve systems and service to create a dynamic environment that is welcoming to Members, families and guests.
