1. Around 10,000 com­peti­tors on hand­i­caps of 1.4 or less en­ter the US Open. They are pro­fes­sion­als and am­a­teurs, teenagers and se­niors, teach­ers and fire­fight­ers rep­re­sent­ing more than 75 coun­tries. Only 156 play­ers will make it to the first tee on June 18 with the top 60, plus ties, qual­i­fy­ing to play on the week­end.

2. The US Open cham­pion re­ceives the tro­phy for one year, a Jack Nick­laus Medal, a US Open ex­emp­tion for the next 10 years and an in­vi­ta­tion to the other ma­jors for the next five years.

3. Tick­ets to the US Open sold out months prior to the June 18-21 event. In mid-April, only prac­tice day tick­ets were avail­able at $50 per per­son per day or $100 for the three days lead­ing up to the first round on June 18.

4. Four play­ers share the record of four US Open vic­to­ries – Wil­lie An­der­son (1901’03-’04-’05), Bobby Jones (1923-’26-’29’30), Ben Ho­gan (1948-’50-’51-’53) and Jack Nick­laus (1962-’67-’72-’80).
