Anaesthetic. ‘Duomo’ stem wall light

-

DESIGNER: Kiri and Ben Wahrlich Kiwi-based couple Kiri and Ben formed their label Anaesthetic. back in 2011, with a focus on original, sophisticated designs made to a high standard using durable materials. Their innovative range of lighting stays true to these goals, none more so than their ‘Duomo’ wall lights. Made to order with up to six weeks lead time, each light is hand-assembled in Melbourne then packed and dispatched. While the duo recently relocated to New Zealand, Kiri says “the business is still very much in Australia”. After identifying a niche in the market for feature wall lighting, they designed Duomo with the intention of showcasing their hand-finished aged-brass technique in a contemporary, minimal way. “We love using machined brass and aluminium, leather, and solid timber in our designs,” says Kiri. Duomo’s name is derived from the traditional domed churches the pair saw during recent travels through Italy. Similar to those historic buildings, the lights are “designed to last generations using hard-wearing materials that will stand the test of time,” says Kiri. From $747 each, anaestheticdesign.com.
