STEP UP YOUR FLOOR GAME

Inside Out (Australia) - - Things We Love -

Flooring is the foundation of a home’s style, so changing it up can make a big difffference. “There were a few difffferent timbers in this house – yellow-toned Cyprus pine downstairs, orangey timber on the stairs and reddish Jarrah upstairs – and it was all a bit disconnected, so I laid Provincial Lane oak laminate flooring from Carpet Court throughout the house myself over a couple of months,” says Darren. “I usually like to redo all the furniture when I redo a house, but I think I’ll keep these chairs – they work perfectly for beachy style,” he says of the white Windsor-style Thonet chairs with grey felted wool seat pads.

Throughout Darren’s home, there are plenty of styling vignettes showcasing his refined relaxed luxe style. This combination of faux coral with a hammered metal bowl, both pieces from his Myer range, (opposite, left) is a great example. An artwork by Dorothy Napangardi (opposite, right) gives this kitchen nook a focal point. Stools from Sounds Like Home and ‘Stol’ chairs from Thonet (this page) provide classic seating options while an oversized rattan pendant light from Bisque Interiors brings coastal appeal.
