THE UNLUCKY NUMBER
The NFL prides itself on parity (our codes are similarly devoted). Yet 13 of the league’s 32 franchises, or 40 percent, have never won the Super Bowl. Of that 13, another four have never even played in one. While the NFL does exhibit some turnover in successful teams, it’s worth noting that only 12 teams make it to the postseason every year, compared to eight of 18 in the AFL and eight of 16 in the NRL.
