Anthony Davis

Inside Sport - - PUNTER’S CHANCE -

It’s not only about the stars on the move – there’s the curious case of Davis, the star who is stuck. He remains a franchise player; unfortunately, that franchise is New Orleans, which hasn’t been able to parlay Davis’s splendid talents into something substantial (one playoff appearance) over his five seasons. Even with fellow star big Boogie Cousins at his side, the Pelicans would need a best-case scenario to be a play-off team in the loaded western conference. If the losses pile up again, expect the trade rumblings to start: Boston, which still has a bag full of pieces it could send out, or Chicago, which is Davis’s hometown. Amid this uncertainty, is an MVP season plausible? For Davis, maybe – he is that good.
