CHILDERS BACK ON THE AIR
CHILDERS has been given a voice, thanks to Pilotlight Productions which has brought back radio station 88FM to the airwaves.
President Tony Carey said he was proud to announce that 88FM Pilotlight Radio would start on Tuesday.
Mr Carey said classic and contemporary hits mixed with local music and stories would create a unique voice for Childers.
“It’s taken six months, but finally we’re ready to go to air,” Mr Carey said.
“It’s also a significant milestone in the growth of Pilotlight that we have a headquarters, a place of business, and a central venue for rehearsals.”
Mr Carey said Pilotlight Productions already trained its members in all areas of stagecraft and now it added radio skills training to its bow.
“With time and training, our Pilot-lighters will be able to shift 88FM away from being a fully automated radio station to broadcasting regularlyscheduled programs by ‘live’ presenters, as well as using their new skills as recording artists, voice-over talent for sponsored messages and radio drama, and as technicians,” Mr Carey said.
“This is all about developing careers at a time when jobs are in short supply around here.”
The radio station is in search for sponsorship from new enterprises, small businesses and trades, clubs and community groups seeking to establish name and product recognition.
“People often complain that nothing happens in a small town in Childers. Conversely, they get frustrated when they find out that they missed something interesting because they didn’t know it was on. If there is a local business seeking to edge ahead of the competition, or an upcoming event that people should know about, I hope they can say that they heard about it on 88FM Pilotlight Radio,” Mr Carey said.
The radio station will operate from the original premises at 94 Churchill St, Childers. If you would like to sponsor the radio station, contact 0417 930 579.
