A LOVELY morning greeted the players this morning for a simple Stroke and Putt game. The course is in great condition and the greens are running true thanks to all the members of the various Clubs that utilise the course.
It was tight at the top this morning with 4 players all on 32 meaning a countback was needed to sort out the winners and losers. Leigh Hart finally emerged the victor but succeeded in losing 2.2.7 off his handicap. Bob Cochrane was second proving that the more one practices the better one plays but managed to lose 2.2 off his handicap and Mick Ryan was third losing 1.7 off his handicap. The unlucky loser was Tony Parker who in reality ended up the winner as he didn’t lose any points off his handicap, a bitter sweet loss.
The Men’s Longest Drive was won by Michael Stanton who didn’t quite manage to reach the markers but was well within the limits. The B Grade Longest Drive was won by Tony Parker with a 251m drive on the third outstripping the opposition by miles. The B Grade Approach was won by Mick Ryan who pipped the holder of the prize by 1.5cm.
The Golden Circle was once again safe as nobody landed on the 4th in one shot. Hopefully next time, which will be Peregian Springs the prize will go off. Dave Durie won the Combined Nearest the Pin on the 6th and Col Dennett won the Combined Approach on the 7th.
The least Putts were shared between Ed Connell and Leigh Hart with 12 each.
Next week we play at Biggenden which will be 18 holes 2 person Ambrose. This is the second game of the trophy series and Biggenden are one up on us in our quest to wrest the trophy back off them. Tee off time is 0800hrs.
Members are reminded to carry a sand bucket with them whilst playing and to fill any divots that they make. While you are at it if you see and divots that haven't been filled in please fill those in as well and repair any pitch marks on the Greens.
