IT’S just as well Chris Brown is a vet and not a GP – otherwise he may have been tending to hearts that went aflutter when he dropped into the Flying High Bird Sanctuary this week.

Bird sanctuary owner Anne Tocknell said Dr Chris, from Channel Ten’s program, Bondi Vet, popped in on his way to film a bird release in 1770 with wildlife rescuer “Twinnies”, Brigette and Paula Powers.

“I’ve known the Twinnies and their mother Helen for a long time,” Mrs Tocknell said.

She said Dr Chris’s visit came just in time for a blue quaker bird that had become ill after falling into water containing bleach.

“He checked the bird and it’ll be all right. He’s had lots of baths,” Mrs Tocknell said.

“He also looked over some of the others and gave us a few ideas about things we could do, which we’ve taken on board.

“He is really very taken with animals and he’s just wonderful with them.”
