World No Tobacco Day

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion -

ON World No Tobacco Day (Saturday, May 31) we called on the Queensland Government to save lives through smoke-free spaces. Nine Queenslanders will die today from tobacco-related disease and illness. And one of them will die without ever having smoked a cigarette in their life, from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke. If we take action today to introduce smoke-free malls, bus stops, taxi ranks and ferry terminals, more smokers will quit, fewer young people will start smoking, and all of us will be protected from harmful exposure to tobacco smoke. Please show your support for a smoke-free state by telling your local MP. Together we can create a smoke-free future. PROFESSOR JEFF DUNN CEO Cancer Council Queensland
