Madle now the chamber president

Isis Town and Country - - News -

THE Childers Chamber of Commerce has a new president.

Troy Madle, of Madle’s Tyre and Mechanical, was nominated by Paul Dwyer at the Tuesday night meeting.

Secretary Geoff Bassett said a strong show of hands supported the nomination and saw Mr Madle sworn in as the new president.

Mr Bassett said the new president took the reins quickly and chaired his first meeting on the same night.

“Troy was happy to take on the position,” Mr Bassett said.

The move comes as former president John Russo (pictured) stepped down from the role.

“John stepped down to allow someone else to have a go at it,” Mr Bassett said.

He said Mr Russo would remain an active member of the committee and take on a new role.

“Just because he’s stepped down doesn’t mean he’s walking away,” Mr Bassett said.

“He’s said he’s happy to stay on as vice-president.”

The Childers Chamber of Commerce will next meet on Tuesday, June 24.

Mr Bassett said the committee was looking to progress on two key items – Bring it to Childers and the Childers Streetscape.

Bring it to Childers is an initiative of the committee that aims to look at what is missing from Childers in terms of commerce and industry.

Suggestion boxes will be available around the community for your feedback.
