Isis Town and Country - - Sport -

BIKE riders hit the Promisedland trail on Sunday to compete in Mountain Biking Bundaberg’s first four-hour race.

Competitors pushed their bikes to the limits on the 12km track, racing as many laps as possible in the allocated time.

The 12km course was in excellent condition, and included 2.6km of new single track.

Gladstone rider Michael England showed too much class, winning the solo male section, while Kyla MacDonald and Mandy Finch won female pairs, Dane Linford the over-40s and Duncan Allen the juniors.

Club spokesman Andrew Cole said the weather conditions were perfect on the day.

“We had beautiful conditions,” he said.

“The rain from the last couple of days was perfect.”

The next race is an XCO format contest on Sunday, June 29.

Anyone interested in becoming involved in mountain biking should contact the club at www.mountainbikingbundaberg.com.au.
