ONE could be forgiven for thinking we were still in summer as the morning was great for golf.
Most players found the greens to be two-paced, with some like lightening and others very slow, but that didn’t stop Nigel Radin from only having 11 putts for the game. Nigel also took out the combined nearest the pin on the 6th.
The winner with 30 and losing 3.0 off his handicap was Tony Parker, with Dave Durie on 31 second and losing 1.8 and Ed Connell also on 31 and losing 2.5 in third place. Bill Kirchhof was also on 31 but lost on countback.
Bill Long took out the B-grade Approach on the 1st, Col Dennett the A-grade Longest Drive and Long Drive, Ray Burrows the B-grade Longest Drive.
Damien Tarda was the only one in two weeks to get on the 4th in one, so he took out the Golden Circle Prize, a bottle of Baileys and a pair of monogrammed glasses. As of next week, the Golden Circle will be won by the player who gets closest to the pin over three months. Prizes donated by Bill Kirchhof as one of the sponsors of the social club.
Next week we have the game at Bargara. It’s $26 for those requiring a Buggy and $12 for those using their own buggy. The cost includes 18 holes of golf, a buggy to be shared and a steak sandwich and chips and a complimentary drink at the Bargara Golf Club. Tee-off is at 8am, so be there at least 30 minutes before tee-off so that cards can be done. Those who haven’t nominated to play, please phone Paul on 0427 407 970 as soon as possible so that I can let Bargara know the numbers.
The Eagles Nest Golf Club will be visiting on September 7 for a one-off trophy game, so mark your calendars accordingly.
