Running for funds

Isis Town and Country - - News -

THE community has come together to run for fun and funds for a Childers family.

The Steinbrecher family has lived in Childers for nearly 18 months after moving to the rural region from the US.

The family has become an active part of the Childers community and runs the Childers Wesleyan Methodist Church.

But as their four children grow up, get married, have children and prepare to head off to university, the need has arisen for the Steinbrecher family to head back to America.

The return trip won’t come cheaply and mum Chris Steinbrecher said the church had decided to pitch in and help the family raise funds for the trip.

“They said they wanted us to get back to see our family,” Mrs Steinbrecher said.

She said the help was the church’s way of saying “you can go, but you have to come back”, she joked.

The Queen’s Birthday holiday event raised more than $250 towards the trip and Mrs Steinbrecher said it was a great day.

“Some people really accomplished a lot,” she said.
