Pupils keeping cool

Isis Town and Country - - News -

CHILDERS State School students might not be too cool for school, but they can now be cool while being at school.

The Childers Apex Club donated $5200 for two air-conditioners to the Childers State School P&C Association and Childers Apex president Tim Turner said the donation was symbolic.

“It’s great, it’s something that will be a legacy there. It gives something back to the community,” Mr Turner said.

Childers State School captain Riley Hamey described the donation as “really good”.

“It allows you to concentrate on your school work, especially when you’re doing NAPLAN,” he said. “You don’t get headaches and you can just focus on your work.”

P&C president Sharon Bak said the air-conditioning was about helping the children.

“If they’re more comfortable, they learn better,” she said.

MORE COMFORTABLE: President of the P&C Sharon Bak and Childers State School captain Riley Hamey celebrate after a donation of $5200 was given by APEX club president Tim Turner to fully air-condition the school.
