AFTER the excitement of the club championships the June Monthly Medal saw a smaller field than usual compete for the medals. It was a day when only one player bettered par.

In A Division Phil Luckett played very steadily to equal par on nett 70, with Paul McCarragher runner-up on 73. Rundowns went to Mark Tedge and Dave Robinson.

New member Jeff Freeman scored 68 nett to capture the B Division medal from Ivan Philpott on 73. Rundowns went to Ken Albion and Roger Draper. Only one pinshot was recorded by Mark Tedge on 4 and 13, while Ivan Philpott won the B approach on 1 and 10, his second shot 0.09m from the hole. This Saturday members compete in a single stableford competition for a club trophy.

Helen led the rundowns followed by Val Plath and Joan Wright. Robyn Robinson won the women’s approach.

The first round of the Nash Bowl match play is to be played on or before June 20 by the following players: Helen Ricciardi v Fiona Dowling; Cynthia Draper v Val Plath; Joan Wright v Cecily Fay; Robyn Robinson v Joy Cartner.

Queen’s Birthday Competition

A SMALL but determined group of golfers enjoyed a single stableford competition in the afternoon. Joan Kelly triumphed with 42 points to win from Adrian Martin on 39 points. Rundowns went to Rae McCliskie and Kev Denham on 36, with Bill Herring scoring 35 and winning the last rundown. Helen Ricciardi played an excellent nine holes to score 20 points and win that trophy.

THE QUEEN’S birthday weekend resulted in a huge weekend of junior golf.

Several Isis juniors travelled to Yeppoon to play in the Central Queensland Junior Championship. Blake Dowling drained a 10 metre putt on the 57th hole to snatch a draw with Ryley Martin from Buderim. The 3 hole playoff that transpired was absolutely amazing. Both players birdied the first par 5 playoff hole. Blake doing this after having a poor drive. He was able to get up and down from 160 metres out, he put his third shot within a metre and made the putt.

On the third play-off hole it looked like Blake might have it however Ryley Martin put his third shot from off the fairway deep in the second cut and 120 metres out to 6 inches. It was truly a one in a million shot that enabled him to win. Blake finishing second backing up from his recent club Championship triumph.

The other member to do well was Sophie Martell who finished 2nd in the B-grade girls division. Sophie coming second on two of the days and on the third losing a playoff for first. She really played very consistent golf over the three days and had a 295 for the three days.

In the local juniors a stroke event was held with Mitchell Tarda winning the 6 hole event with a Nett 14 (there goes some shots from the handicap). Xavier Freeman being runner up with a Nett 17. Xavier will also lose strokes. In the 9 hole event Cooper Burns came back from a recent break with a fine score of 63 off the stick for a Nett 30. Runner Up was Katelyn Carige with a Nett 39. Zane Fitzgerald won the 13 hole event with a score of 69 off the stick. This Saturday is the June Monthly medal with 13 holers starting at 7am and 9 and 6 holers starting at 7.30am.
