HISTORIC: The original plumbing business owned and operated by Ernest James Madle (plumber and father to Ernest "Bully" Madle) was situated in the building that is now home to Home Hardware in Childers. Ernest made and supplied water tanks to the Isis district and also operated a fuel depot. He made radiators and mudguards and provided panel beating and spray painting services. He left Childers briefly to work at Shell in Sydney but came back to raise his family before leaving for Darwin during the Second World War. Thanks to Lynne Madle for sharing this piece of history with us.
