Kids’ first trip to the beach
WHEN Anzo and Tessa Rose Font-Jones first visited Woodgate Beach, the hot sun and cool sea breeze were a far cry from the chilly winter winds that they were used to.
The three year old and 12 month old French citizens met their Australian grandparents, Barbara and Adrian Jones, for the first time earlier this month and spent a magical 10 days exploring the region.
“Our beautiful grandchildren Anzo and Tessa Rose are from the Pyrenean Mountains in France,” Mrs Jones said.
“Their parents are both ski instructors so they are used to a very cold climate and have never seen the beach before.”
Anzo and Tessa were treated to a day trip to Woodgate Beach during their stay in Australia where they swapped their winter ski suits for surfing dacks and had some fun in the sun.
“Anzo was speechless and he kept looking up and down the beach in awe saying ‘Oh wow grandpa look at that’,” Mrs Jones said.
“We spent most of the day building sand castles, playing in the water, collecting shells and eating chicken bites from the local shop.”
“Little Tessa Rose loved kicking her feet in the water and splashing her mum and just sitting around with grandpa on the rug.”
During their stay, the tiny duo ticked off many ‘firsts’ from their list of things to do, including learning how to ride a bike.
“Grandpa Adrian taught Anzo to ride his very first bike. He had never learned to do that as he doesn’t have a bike he has skis!” Mrs Jones said.
“With mum and dad being ski instructors, he is already an excellent little skier and not afraid of heights or speed.”
According to Mrs Jones, the holiday was a great success for the whole family and Anzo and Tessa Rose now have a grand appreciation for the Australian beach lifestyle.
“Woodgate Beach is just the most perfect place to introduce little ones to nature’s elements of sun, sea and sand. It is so safe and so clean and the locals are extremely friendly,” Mrs Jones said.
“We will always remember Woodgate as the first beach in the world that our grandchildren had their first mouthful of salt water.”
