Creative fun for region’s children
ARTS AND CULTURE WITH JEREMY STAPLES
ARE you looking for activities to entertain your child this school holidays?
Childers Arts Space is offering a great school holidays workshop themed around their latest exhibition.
Round Pots, Square Holes for Kids workshop is being held on Friday, July 11, from 10am to noon.
Come learn directly from Cate Verney, a Childers Firehouse potter and exhibiting artist in the Round Pots, Square Holes exhibition.
Get creative, get messy and take your artwork home. Cate will walk through the steps involved in making a clay creation and each child will create an art piece to take home.
The cost is $8 a child. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting CHARTS on 4130 4876 or bragbrc.org.au/workshops.
ENTRY of the annual Mt Perry Art Competition is open and can be downloaded from the Mt Perry Fine Arts group website at www.mtperryfinearts.blogspot.com.au. More than $7000 of prizemoney is up for grabs and applications close Monday, August 25, with the exhibition running from September 5 to 7.
IF YOU live in the Bundaberg region and have a project in mind, and it has an arts or cultural element, act now.
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between Bundaberg Regional Council and the Queensland Government to support local arts and culture.
Applications open Monday, July 28, and close Friday, September 19, for projects starting no earlier than mid-November 2014.
RADF is open to individuals, groups, cultural organisations and community organisations.
Forms are available from BRAG and CHARTS galleries, and the Moncrieff Theatre during the application period.
Information sessions will be held during July, where interested people can learn more about the RADF program and discuss project ideas in person.
Sessions will be held in Childers (5pm–6.30pm Tuesday, July 8), Gin Gin (11am–12.30pm Saturday, July 19) and Bundaberg (5pm–6.30pm Tuesday, July 22). THE Bundaberg Regional Galleries are excited to present one of Australia’s most significant contemporary artists, Hossein Valamanesh.
Visiting Bundaberg as part of the Literary Notions installation series, Valamanesh will deliver an artist talk on Thursday, July 10, from 6–8pm at Bundaberg Regional Library, 49Woondooma St, Bundaberg.
Can’t make it to Bundaberg Regional Library on July 10? Don’t fear, the entire event will be broadcast live from the Bundaberg Regional Galleries website: http://brag-brc.org.au. CHILDERS Arts Space celebrates the Childers Festival with a fun, free, art activity on Sunday, July 27, from 9am– 3pm.
