EV­ERY day in Aus­tralia, about 350 people are told they have a life-threat­en­ing cancer and sadly more than 115 people die of the dis­ease. Cancer Coun­cil Queens­land is call­ing on lo­cals to make a date this Daf­fodil Day (Au­gust 22) to brighten the lives of Queens­lan­ders im­pacted by cancer. This year, Cancer Coun­cil Queens­land hopes to raise $1.5 mil­lion through the an­nual event to sup­port its vi­tal work in cancer re­search, ed­u­ca­tion pro­grams and pa­tient sup­port ser­vices. The daf­fodil is the in­ter­na­tional sym­bol of hope for those touched by cancer, as it blooms at the end of win­ter and her­alds the re­turn of spring, vi­tal­ity and growth. A bright splash of yel­low does more than light up the com­mu­nity – it gives hope for bet­ter treat­ments, hope for more sur­vivors, and hope for a cancer free fu­ture. With your help, we can make a dif­fer­ence and beat cancer – make a date this Daf­fodil Day!
