Re­bates up to cut bills

VUL­NER­A­BLE fam­i­lies and pen­sion­ers will have help to deal with cost-of-liv­ing pres­sures af­ter the State Govern­ment in­creased a range of con­ces­sions and re­bates to help with elec­tric­ity and gas bills.

Mem­ber for Bur­nett Stephen Ben­nett said the Govern­ment was al­lo­cat­ing $164.6 mil­lion in 2014-15 for en­ergy re­bates and con­ces­sions, up $25 mil­lion on last year.

Pen­sion­ers can ap­ply for an elec­tric­ity re­bate of $320.97 a year, an in­crease of $38.43, and a retic­u­lated nat­u­ral gas re­bate will in­crease by $2.03 to $67.61.
