A BUSY weekend for golfers with the Blake Dowling com­bined Isis/So­cial two-per­son Am­brose stroke event on Satur­day and the Four­somes Cham­pi­onships on Sun­day.

On Satur­day, the rain kept some play­ers away, but a good num­ber com­pleted the round, with Clin­ton Dowling and Cur­tis Fredrik­sen win­ning with a nett score of 62.5 ahead of Dave and Robyn Robin­son on 64.25, both ex­cel­lent scores in the test­ing con­di­tions.

Mark and Vicki McAu­lay were third, scor­ing 66 nett and Ivan Philpott and Roger Draper next on 67.25. Run­downs went to Brett Martell and John Hin­ton, Chris Fitzsi­mons and Bob Fraser, Bill Her­ring and Paul McCar­ragher.

Cur­tis also put his ap­proach in the hole on 1&10 and 4&13, as did Paul Mc on 1&10.

Mem­bers en­joyed the bar­be­cue sup­per de­liv­ered and pre­pared by mem­bers of the Childers District So­cial Golf Club.

In the Four­somes Cham­pi­onships play­ers hit-off at 11am in sunny con­di­tions, with play­ers in by 4pm. Peter Hrelja and Peter Steel com­bined well to score 123 gross over the 27 holes and win com­fort­ably from Ray Walker and Mark McAu­lay on 134.

Bob Champ­ney and Len Stal­lard played well to win the nett tro­phy with a score of 107 from Col Den­nett and Ray Bur­rows on 108.75. Ray Walker and Mark McAu­lay also won the ap­proach on 4&13, while Phil Luck­ett and Nigel Radin re­stored some pride win­ning the ap­proach on 1&10.

This Satur­day we play for the July Monthly Medal – bring a plate for af­ter game.


CO­RALIE VOL­GYESI recorded 37 stable­ford points to win the Thurs­day morn­ing com­pe­ti­tion, with Rose Cochrane on 35 points the run­ner-up for the day.

On Satur­day mem­bers joined with the men for the Blake Dowling Day and re­sults are in the men’s notes.

The Monthly Gob­let for July will be held to­day (Thurs­day).
