Society buys mobile stage

Isis Town and Country - - NEWS -

THE Childers Choral Society received a financial boost to the tune of more than $27,000 to help with their production Seussical.

The funds are part of its share of more than $12.6 million in the latest round of the State Government’s community grants program.

Director David Horner welcomed the funds, which he said helped to buy a portable stage for a joint performance with Isis Community Theatre involving nine schools across the district.

Mr Horner said the stage would allow for a more professional production.

“It solved a lot of logistical problems,” he said.

“Now we have that funding, it’s something that can be used in the community as well.”

Mr Horner said the production, to be staged during November, was coming along well.

The grant follows money the group received earlier this year from the Regional Arts Development Fund.
