Appreciation for Apex

Isis Town and Country - - OPINION -

ON BEHALF of the children, families, management committee and staff at C&K Isis Community Preschool & Kindergarten, I would like to express my appreciation to the Apex Club of Childers. Apex have been active supporters of our kindy since the beginning when they helped establish Isis Public Kindergarten in the early 1960s, and then again in 1965 when they helped to move and improve the current kindy building. Apex members have supported us with a variety of fundraisers over the years, lending resources and manpower to set up, cook barbecues, run the bar, pack up, etc. They have also made several generous donations over the years, with these donations used to buy books and other resources for our kindy. Last week, as the Apex Club of Childers came to an end, we were once again touched by their generosity as they presented us with a cheque for $1000. Community organisations such as ours rely heavily on the generosity of local clubs and groups and enjoy the feeling of “working together” that comes from taking part in local events with these clubs and groups. With such a strong history in Childers it is sad to see Apex unable to continue, but it seems to be a sign of the times (with more families having both adults working, running own businesses or one parent working away; it is a juggling act to find time for work, family and outside commitments). We wish the members of Apex all the very best and once again thank them for their continued and generous support of our kindy.
