Isis Town and Country - - SPORT -

A BRIGHT morning with the sun shining usually provides a perfect day for golf but the cold wind added a chill factor that froze the hands somewhat.

Rhonda Zahn managed to overcome the problem with a winning 32 but losing 3.3 into the bargain off her handicap. Peter von Dolen managed a credible 33 to pip Sue Long for second place but losing 2.4 for his troubles. Of course we couldn’t forget Sue who although third managed to lose 1.5 off her handicap.

The least Putts was equally shared by Peter von and Bob Fraser who had a real day out taking out the B Grade Approach on the 1st, the B Grade Longest Drive and the combined Nearest the Pin on the 6th, leaving only Col Dennet to take out the A Grade Longest Drive. Paul McCarragher took out the A grade nearest the Pin on the 1st, breaking a five-month drought of trying to get on the green in one or even two or three.

Thanks to those members who helped with the preparing of the barbecue, the cleaning up and the taking out of the bins, greatly appreciated. As from next week we will have an alphabetical roster for the bins so that all social club members have a chance to help. If you are away for the week rostered on you will be changed so that you don’t miss out. This will of course include all committee members. This roster will also be used for the barbecue days and cleaning up as this is the only fair way to address the issue of the same people doing the job all the time.

Next week hopefully we will be playing the Lighthouse (Oakwood) at Isis, 18 holes and barbecue after the game. I have yet to confirm but the members can check the website to confirm on Friday at www.childersocial
