A SMALLER than usual field today thanks to the Isis Golf Clubs Championship game scheduled for this morning after our game.
The weather was also a factor with chilly winds blowing up some of the fairways making it a two-jumper day. Of course this didn’t stop our players and Leigh Hart adjusted to the conditions best with a 33, losing 2.3 off his handicap. Rhonda Zahn also managed a 33 but lost on countback, but managed although coming in second to lose 2.6 off her handicap, and third was Bill Kirchhof on 37, losing just 0.5 off his handicap.
Leigh had a great day, managing to take out the B Grade Longest drive, the B Grade Approach on the 10th and joint least putts with our visitor Gary, with 14 putts each. Dave Durie won the A Grade Longest Drive and Tony Parker the Men’s Approach on the 15th.
Saturday, the social club and the Isis Gold Club played a friendly round to raise money for Blake to attend Melbourne for a tournament. Unfortunately for all the weather was lousy at tee-off time but after four holes it cleared an allowed the game to go ahead unhindered by rain coats and covers. It was the initial rain episode that persuaded many to forgo the game and the numbers were somewhat down on what was expected.
The social club provided the meal and the Isis Golf Club provided the prizes for the game and raffles. It is hoped that in the future the Isis Golf Club will return the favour and come to one of our morning games with the Isis club providing the meal and the social club the prizes.
