Isis Town and Country - - NEWS - By MELINDA BRADFORD

BRAVE men got in touch with their feminine side to raise funds for the Isis Community Pre-school and Kindergarten on Saturday night.

The local lads strutted their stuff on the catwalk as they took part in the hilarious Miss Isis 2014 Hairy Beauties Pageant.

Eleven contestants from the Isis district took part in the pageant, where they performed in front of a packed crowed at the Isis Cultural Centre.

Fundraising co-ordinator Sandra Lyons said the night had been a lot of fun and it was hoped almost $5000 would have been raised for the kindy.

Mrs Lyons said she was humbled by the support from the public and was grateful to the local lads for participating in the event.

“The contestants put a lot of time into perfecting their character. It was so humbling to see that,” she said.

“They were all about fundraising on the night.

“They practised and it all paid off.”

Mrs Lyons admitted the committee was a bit apprehensive about what sort of “talent” the men would come up with, but was pleasantly surprised.

“The talent that came through was really extraordinarily funny,” she said.

“I was really overwhelmed by the effort they put in.”

Mrs Lyons thanked local businesses for their contributions, especially Marry Me Country-Wedding Hire and Sales.

“We had some handsome donations that we weren’t expecting, but it wasn’t just donations, it was people’s time,” she said.

“It was a nice big surprise that people were donating their time and resources.”

“Twirking Tammy” (Tim Kay) was crowned Miss Isis 2014 and Miss Fundraiser 2014 was awarded to “Miss M” (Sam Edwards).
