Festival full of activities
MY NAME is Edwina Kelly and I am the new Galleries Administration & Volunteer Officer based at Childers Arts Space (CHARTS).
I will highlight local arts, news, reviews, openings and workshops to help connect groups from Childers and the surrounding areas.
As part of the Childers Festival, a wide range of workshops has been organised over the weekend of the festival.
Childers Eco Lodge is offering the chance to create a piece of Aboriginal art. Join acclaimed Aboriginal artist, Roger “Bushfire” Saunders on Saturday, July 26, in a fun art workshop using indigenous dot painting, set in the picturesque grounds of Vintner’s Secret Vineyard, Childers. Bookings are essential. Contact Vanessa on 0428909681 or email@example.com.
Vintners Secret will celebrate Bastille Day with French-themed wine, food and music under fluttering French flags, this Sunday, July 20, from 1-4pm. For tickets, contact Marianne on 4126 1255 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Create a button badge at CHARTS on Sunday, July 27. Watch the festival go by from the veranda during this fun, free activity. Artist Vynka von Fahland will be available to help. The workshop is open to all ages. Contact the gallery on 4130 4876.
Judith Bohm-Parr is a newcomer to Childers who has 30 years experience in glass making and tutoring. Create colourful fused glass wind chimes or a light catcher at an introductory three-hour workshop.
Studio 8 Glass is 5 km south of Childers on a landscaped property called Xanadu.
The studio is housed in a rustic iron and timber structure. Contact Jude on 4126 3676 or email email@example.com.
The Gin Gin & District Fine Arts Society is presenting a Watercolours workshop with Ross Driver on July 26 and 27 from 9am to 4pm. Contact Gwen Field on 0402 573 356.
