MY NAME is Ed­wina Kelly and I am the new Gal­leries Ad­min­is­tra­tion & Vol­un­teer Of­fi­cer based at Childers Arts Space (CHARTS).

I will high­light lo­cal arts, news, re­views, open­ings and work­shops to help con­nect groups from Childers and the sur­round­ing ar­eas.

As part of the Childers Fes­ti­val, a wide range of work­shops has been or­gan­ised over the weekend of the fes­ti­val.

Childers Eco Lodge is of­fer­ing the chance to cre­ate a piece of Abo­rig­i­nal art. Join ac­claimed Abo­rig­i­nal artist, Roger “Bush­fire” Saun­ders on Satur­day, July 26, in a fun art work­shop us­ing indige­nous dot paint­ing, set in the pic­turesque grounds of Vint­ner’s Se­cret Vine­yard, Childers. Ju­dith Bohm-Parr is a new­comer to Childers who has 30 years ex­pe­ri­ence in glass mak­ing and tu­tor­ing. Cre­ate colourful fused glass wind chimes or a light catcher at an in­tro­duc­tory three-hour work­shop.

Stu­dio 8 Glass is 5 km south of Childers on a land­scaped property called Xanadu.

The Gin Gin & District Fine Arts So­ci­ety is pre­sent­ing a Wa­ter­colours work­shop with Ross Driver on July 26 and 27 from 9am to 4pm. Con­tact Gwen Field on 0402 573 356.
