Geese not the problem

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion -

JUST reading the article July 22 (News-Mail) re: aggressive geese at Bundaberg Botanic Gardens. Firstly my friend and I take her husband out there at least fortnightly and have never witnessed the geese being aggressive. They honk at you and come running when they see you throwing out the food we purchase for them from the restaurant 1928 at 50 cents a bag. There are no signs around stating that you should not be feeding the wildlife and why then can you purchase the bags of food? I know they give a great amount of joy to children and especially my friend’s husband who is confined to a wheelchair. What I find more upsetting is the parents who do not control their children and let them chase the ducks, geese and other birdlife. Also the amount of rubbish that people throw around in the lake and surrounds is disgusting. Maybe the adults should teach their children how to protect and appreciate the special free environment we have here in Bundaberg. DIANE STYLES
