Small school sports

LAST week Good­wood State School at­tended the an­nual Small School Sports Day at Childers Show­grounds and com­peted with stu­dents from Cordalba and St Joseph’s.

Stu­dents par­tic­i­pat­ing from all schools ex­hib­ited com­mit­ment and en­thu­si­asm set in strong spirit of col­lab­o­ra­tion and friend­ship.

Through­out the day stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in 100m, 200m and 800m run­ning races, re­lay teams, long jump, shot put, high jump, the tra­di­tional ball games and the ju­nior stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in in­ter­est­ing and ex­cit­ing games as their peers com­peted in field events.

At the end of the day achieve­ment points were tal­lied and age cham­pi­ons and win­ning teams were iden­ti­fied.

Good­wood came out on top, win­ning the Ball Games Shield and the Over­all Points Shield.

Around 12 stu­dents rep­re­sented Good­wood School on the day.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Tori Holmes who was awarded 10 years girls’ age cham­pion and Bai­ley Gra­ham who was awarded 10 years boys’ age cham­pion.

House cap­tains Yana Holmes and Brent Hass were very gra­cious and hon­oured to re­ceive the shields on be­half of the school.


SPORT­ING SUC­CESS: Good­wood State School was thrilled to have won the ball games shield and over­all points shield at the Small School Sports Day, held at Childers Show­grounds.
