Get set for Woodgate Fun Run
Fundraiser to help Isis District State High
IT’S time to dust off those joggers and pound the pavement to raise funds for the Isis District State High School.
The high school’s P&C is holding its major fundraiser for the year, the Park to Point Woodgate Beach Fun Run, next Sunday, August 17.
Participants can choose to run, walk, jog or skip for distances ranging from 2km, 5km and 10km along the Woodgate esplanade and beach.
Prizes will be awarded in each group, but, as it is not a timed event, winners’ names will be drawn out of a hat.
Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or happy to just walk at your leisure along the beautiful beach, every competitor will be in the running for a prize.
Local fitness guru Leanne Shorter will be on hand to lead the warm up again this year, and when you’ve worked up an appetite, breakfast can be purchased from the P&C, including scrumptious bacon and egg burgers, sausages on bread and fruit salad and yoghurt.
This is the second year the P&C has held the family-friendly fundraiser, and organisers are on a mission to raise just as much, if not more, funds than last year’s event.
“Last year we raised just over $2500 with the Fun Run and were really grateful for the community's participation,” P&C secretary Kymm Cole said.
She said the P&C was able to put the funds towards installing air-conditioning in the school library and some classrooms.
“This has been greatly appreciated by the students and staff, especially during those really hot days early in the year,” she said.
This year the P&C is hoping to use the funds to install large fans in the school’s stadium as well as air-conditioning in more classrooms.
There are some major prizes up for grabs this year, including one night’s accommodation for four in a beach front villa, thanks to the Woodgate Beach Tourist Park.
Registration is available on the day, or jump online at trybooking .com/91318.
