Isis Town and Country - - Sport -

WOW, two months of rain in 24 hours must have scared away the players as a small field came out to play this morning.

The best thing I suppose was that rain tanks are now full and the grass has a new lease of life instead of being the usual burnt brown colour we are so used to at this time of year, but the run on the fairways has diminished somewhat.

The winner today was Peter Macauley who played a great game coming in with 31 stokes, but paying the penalty by losing 3.1 off his handicap almost but not quite putting him A Grade.

Paul McCarragher had a day out coming second with 34 and losing 1.3 and also taking out the A Grade Longest Drive, the Golden Circle at 1.75m and the Pin Shot on the 13th and the Men’s Approach on the 15th.

Bob Fraser on his birthday took out the Third place on a countback from Chris Fitzsimons and Bill Long, happy birthday Banana Bob.

There was some confusion about the next prize as names were put on the wrong slips but both players deserve a ball so we had Peter Macauley and Ray Burrows taking out the B Grade Approach on the 10th, Chris Fitzsimons with the Least Putts,12 and Leigh Hart the B Grade Longest Drive.

A new member joined today, Graham Brett, likes to be known as Brumby, a left handed player who has swapped from being a right handed player, go figure.

Welcome to the Social Club Brumby from the committee and the members.

Next week we will be playing an Odds and Evens event with special cards made for the occasion.

We will play the Odd Numbered Holes (1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17) only and at a later date the Even Numbered Holes (2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18).

It will be a Stroke and Putt game.

Don’t forget the PINK Ball competition on the 28th September 2014. Teams of three needed to take part and Tee off at 9am with lunch provided. The cost will be $15 each with all proceeds going to the Prostate Cancer Fund. Prizes for the Winning Team and the Individual Winner and Runner Up, shotgun start.

Have a great week and see you all next Sunday.
