MORE than 30 lo­cals turned up to learn about mo­bil­ity scoot­ers at a Mo­bil­ity Scooter Safety Day held on Fri­day at the Isis Cul­tural Cen­tre.

Hosted by Bund­aberg Re­gional Coun­cil in con­junc­tion with the Build­ing Safer Com­mu­ni­ties Ac­tion Team, the event fo­cused on com­mu­nity safety as well as the safety of op­er­a­tors of mo­bil­ity scoot­ers and other pow­ered mo­bil­ity de­vices.

Con­sta­ble Josh Roberts shared his knowl­edge and tips on scooter road rules and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties.

An oc­cu­pa­tional ther­a­pist cov­ered safety tips and help­ful hints on the var­i­ous fea­tures of scoot­ers.

Coun­cil com­mu­nity ser­vices port­fo­lio spokes­woman Coun­cil­lor Judy Peters said the in­for­ma­tion was es­sen­tial to en­sure the safety of the op­er­a­tor as well as that of the gen­eral com­mu­nity.
