Driver charged af­ter fa­tal crash

A HONG Kong na­tional has been charged with caus­ing the hor­ror crash at Pine Creek that killed two Her­vey Bay fa­thers.

Pui Shan Rachel Wong, 30, was ar­rested on Mon­day and charged with one count of dan­ger­ous driv­ing caus­ing death fol­low­ing the dou­ble fa­tal­ity on Thurs­day morn­ing.

It will be al­leged Wong crossed dou­ble lines on a hill and at­tempted to over­take some trucks when she smashed head-on with the north­bound car car­ry­ing the Point Ver­non con­creters.

It is also al­leged she and an­other Bris­bane-based woman were run­ning late to their jobs work­ing on a farm at Childers.

Mark Smith, 51, and Steven Ma­her, 41 were on their way to work on a project at the Mater Hos­pi­tal – they would never ar­rive.

Wong has been de­nied bail due to the strength of the pros­e­cu­tion case.

The woman has been re­manded in cus­tody to reap­pear on Oc­to­ber 16.
