Driver charged after fatal crash
A HONG Kong national has been charged with causing the horror crash at Pine Creek that killed two Hervey Bay fathers.
Pui Shan Rachel Wong, 30, was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death following the double fatality on Thursday morning.
It will be alleged Wong crossed double lines on a hill and attempted to overtake some trucks when she smashed head-on with the northbound car carrying the Point Vernon concreters.
It is also alleged she and another Brisbane-based woman were running late to their jobs working on a farm at Childers.
Mark Smith, 51, and Steven Maher, 41 were on their way to work on a project at the Mater Hospital – they would never arrive.
Wong has been denied bail due to the strength of the prosecution case.
The woman has been remanded in custody to reappear on October 16.
