More crush delays

Isis Town and Country - - News -

RAINFALL that began falling on Friday, August 22 and persistent showers that lingered over the weekend halted crushing operation for the second week in a row.

While most growers received less than 10mm in this event, conditions were greasy underfoot and around 48 hours of processing time was lost.

The mill resumed operations late Sunday afternoon and processed 45,066 tonnes for week seven.

CCS reached 13.78 units for the week with the highest individual test of 16.45 units recorded from a block of 2nd ratoon Q183.

The variety KQ228 made up around 40% of the supply again this week.

Most growers have now completed their second round of harvesting.

The Mill has so far processed 361,901.53 tonnes of cane for the 2014 season.

The forecast of 1,020,000 tonnes is now expected to be surpassed. About 60 members of Next-Gen toured the Isis Mill and were shown the new technology that has been embraced.
