TO­DAY we played for what, this year at least, was the only game against The Old Ea­gles Nest Club for the trophy.

After the clos­ing of Ea­gles Nest Golf Course they have re­lo­cated to Craig­nish and now call them­selves Craignest.

The num­bers were down as was ex­pected with the re­cent up­heavals and it showed with an av­er­age score of 101.8 worked out on the gross scores for the 18 holes whist Childers play­ers av­er­aged 93.04 for the same round giv­ing the trophy to Childers for another year.

The win­ners of the low­est gross scores for the round were Col Den­nett with 80, sec­ond shared be­tween Marg Den­nett and Nev Long­man on 92.

The win­ners of the nett scores for the Childers play­ers were Col Den­nett with 66, los­ing 1.4 off his hand­i­cap and for the first time that any­one can re­mem­ber Adam Smith came a close sec­ond on count­back also with 66 and los­ing 2 off his hand­i­cap with Ray Bur­rows third with 69 and los­ing 0.5.

The on course prizes were all won by Childers play­ers with Scotty White win­ning the Ap­proach on the 1st/10th, Col Den­nett the A Grade Long­est Drive, Chris Fitzsimons the B Grade Long­est Drive and re­turn­ing after 5 months away Terry Small­man tak­ing out the Near­est the Pin and Golden Cir­cle prize on the 4th/13th. Bob Cochrane won the Com­bined Near­est the Pin on the 6th with Marg Den­nett win­ning the Ladies Near­est the Pin on the 15th and Bill Long the Men’s Ap­proach on the 15th.

Next week another Trophy game but this time against Fraser Lakes So­cial Club. There will be a $2 brekkie as usual and a lunch after the 18 holes. The game will be a Stroke and Putt game with an 8am tee off. Don’t for­get to nom­i­nate for the PINK Ball day for Char­ity to be held on the 28th of this month as time is get­ting short.
