TODAY we played for what, this year at least, was the only game against The Old Eagles Nest Club for the trophy.
After the closing of Eagles Nest Golf Course they have relocated to Craignish and now call themselves Craignest.
The numbers were down as was expected with the recent upheavals and it showed with an average score of 101.8 worked out on the gross scores for the 18 holes whist Childers players averaged 93.04 for the same round giving the trophy to Childers for another year.
The winners of the lowest gross scores for the round were Col Dennett with 80, second shared between Marg Dennett and Nev Longman on 92.
The winners of the nett scores for the Childers players were Col Dennett with 66, losing 1.4 off his handicap and for the first time that anyone can remember Adam Smith came a close second on countback also with 66 and losing 2 off his handicap with Ray Burrows third with 69 and losing 0.5.
The on course prizes were all won by Childers players with Scotty White winning the Approach on the 1st/10th, Col Dennett the A Grade Longest Drive, Chris Fitzsimons the B Grade Longest Drive and returning after 5 months away Terry Smallman taking out the Nearest the Pin and Golden Circle prize on the 4th/13th. Bob Cochrane won the Combined Nearest the Pin on the 6th with Marg Dennett winning the Ladies Nearest the Pin on the 15th and Bill Long the Men’s Approach on the 15th.
Next week another Trophy game but this time against Fraser Lakes Social Club. There will be a $2 brekkie as usual and a lunch after the 18 holes. The game will be a Stroke and Putt game with an 8am tee off. Don’t forget to nominate for the PINK Ball day for Charity to be held on the 28th of this month as time is getting short.
