Be an optimist

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion - By Nance Burnett

IN LIFE it pays to look ahead

With optimism, not with dread.

Just leave to other worry-warts

The fears, the dread, the last resorts.

Don’t dray along to the pessimist’s beat

Who moans and groans, expects defeat.

Lift up those feet and stride along

To an upbeat optimistic song.

Be like the elderly couple who,

At seventy-five and eighty-two,

Just planted seven tiny trees

For bottlebrush blooms for birds and bees

And who’s to say they will not see

Each grow to a fine upstanding tree?
