Artists bring the beach to Isis pool

Isis Town and Country - - News -

IN ADDITION to the new bulkheads, Isis War Memorial Pool is in the midst of a facelift.

The sheds were brightened with leftover paint from local businesses and council painters, with a beach-themed mural adding much-needed life and vibrancy to the area.

Isis District Swimming Club president Shelley Whitaker said the work had already made a positive effect.

“Everything feels so much more welcoming,” Mrs Whitaker said.

“We used what we had to look like beach shacks and we store a heap of stuff behind the surfboard as well.”

If the bulkheads and visual makeover aren’t enough, the club has set its sights on even more improvements.

Mrs Whitaker said a steering committee was trying to secure a heat pump, as well as a new aquatic system.

“If we got the heat pump then our swimmers could train all year round,” she said. “It’s taking a little bit of time but we’ve got a lot of momentum now.

“Hopefully we can keep it up.”
