Snakes return

Isis Town and Country - - News -

SNAKE season is well and truly underway as some of the world’s most venomous serpents get on the move.

Eastern browns, red-bellied blacks and various non-venomous pythons are just some of the snakes that have already caused the public concern this season, but Snakes Downunder owner/operator Ian Jenkins described the sightings as nothing out of the ordinary.

“Male brown snakes are out there looking for a mate so you’ll more than likely see them,” Mr Jenkins said.

“A lot of snakes do breed during this time of year.

“We’ve already had one callout for a brown snake in Childers.”

While you should never consider approaching snakes, Mr Jenkins shared a few tips to prevent the chance of a fatal bite.

“If you’re in the garden you should wear appropriate clothing like long pants, long-sleeved shirt, boots and gloves,” Mr Jenkins said.
