Unchain my heart

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion - By NANCE BURNETT

Unchain my heart

Oh, never shall we kiss or touch

Or speak but mundane words

Although we yearn to know so much

Of hearts that fly like birds

And now we pass with eye alight,

We smile but do not speak

For others watch and you are right:

My heart rules. I am weak.

I’ll never hold your hand in mine

And never speak your name

For fate and circumstance combine

To put our love to shame.

The rain and darkness hides my tears

For love which cannot be

And heals these wounds beyond these years.

Unchain my heart. Be free.
