Records mark athletes’ return
ISIS District Little Athletics Club night returned with new members signing on and many regulars hitting top form.
Tiny Tots Vinnie Vella, Slate Emms, Cayden Muggeridge, Mila Anderson, Shantara McAuley, Bella Lemon and Piper Bartlett also returned on Friday night to witness three club track records and 59 Personal Bests from the 61 athletes.
Tessie Dyer (Under 7) added the 300m to her record collection with a 1:12.9 run beating the previous record of 1:14.3 which was jointly held by former member Rana Blair (2009/10) and current athlete Ella Blanch (2011/12).
The next two were broken by siblings Lily Vella (Under 8) and Joey Vella (Under 9).
Lily beat the 2006/07 500m record held by Rhia Blair by 0.3secs crossing the line in 1:59.4.
Brother Joey bettered the 2009/10William Salter 800m record when he broke the three minute mark in 2:58.1.
Alana Beens (Under 11) PB’d in four of her five events with 18.1s (100m), 3:38.4 (800m), 4.07m (SP) and 9.50m (Jav).
Athletes achieving three Personal Bests from four events include U7 Ella Bartlett 1.68m (LJ), 23.1s (100m) and 1:22.8 (300m). U9 Joey Vella 10.48m (Dis), 0.95m (HJ) and 2:58.1 (800m). U10 Ella Blanch 16.7s (100m), 9.00m (Dis) and 2.98m (LJ).
The club has received approval for their new uniforms and logo and new club shirts can now be ordered at the canteen, or by contacting committee members during the week.
